BAKASURA
Bakasura flew into Vrindavana and found Krishna and the cowherd boys playing on the bank of the River Yamuna. Bakasura pounced on Krishna, snatched Him with his sharp beak, and swallowed Him whole.
To escape from Bakasura’s mouth, Krishna increased the heat of His glowing effulgence and severely burned Bakasura’s throat. Bakasura opened his beak wide and screeched in pain.
To the delight and relief of Balarama and the cowherd boys, Krishna jumped out of Bakasura’s mouth and landed firmly on His feet. Bakasura was furious, and he tried to swallow Krishna again. Smiling and unruffled, Krishna tore Bakasura’s beak in two, as easily as a child splits a blade of grass.
