INDRA’S STORM
When Indra sent the Samvartaka cloud to devastate Vrindavana and to kill all its residents, Krishna lifted Govardhana Hill to give everyone shelter.
The people of Vrindavana spent a blissful week with Krishna under Govardhana Hill while He held it up on the little finger of His left hand.
When Indra saw Krishna’s wonderful mystical potency, he felt ashamed of his false pride and embarrassed that he had committed such a terrible offence. Hoping to lessen the burden of his recklessness, he immediately dismissed his devastating clouds and fled the scene.
When Krishna replaced Govardhana Hill and everything in Vrindavana returned to normal, the demigods and the residents of Vrindavana celebrated Krishna’s success by showering flowers and singing joyfully about His glories.
