THE DELIVERANCE OF MANIGRIVA AND NALAKUVARA

Manigriva and Nalakuvara were the degraded sons of the greatly prestigious demigod Kuvera.

One day, when Narada Muni was walking beside the River Ganges, he saw Nalakuvara and Manigriva in the holy waters of the Ganges. Their behaviour was outrageously obnoxious, and in their drunken stupor, they did not even see the great saint passing by.

To teach the young demigods a lesson, Narada cursed them to take birth as trees in the courtyard of Nanda Maharaja.

By this curse, Narada was punishing Nalakuvara and Manigriva while simultaneously blessing them to meet Lord Krishna and to be purified of their low-class mentality.
